Michael Lee Dewlen








2nd Lieutenant Dewlen was killed in action leading a five member reaction team 11 June 1968. Lieutenant Dewlen died at LZ Torch, SW of Khe Sanh near the Laotian border.Lieutenant Dewlen's heroic charge into the main assault point blunted the North Vietnamese ground attack against his artillery unit, Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion 12th Marines allowing the battery time to regroup their defenses and repel the NVA attack. For his heroism, Lieutenant Dewlen was awarded the Silver Star; he is remembered by his commanding officer and close friend, James Brown. Captain Brown can be emailed at
